Like many going through perimenopause, you may have faced the same frustrations of feeling like a different person. Going to the doctor for help, only to be told you need to survive it as a normal part of aging with no other advice. Perhaps being offered mood medications, instead of HRT and being told there is nothing you can do and that you can't take HRT until full onset of Menopause. Unfortunately, doctors are ill equipped to know how to manage menopause and don't know the basics of how to manage it holistically through diet and lifestyle. Ugh...

I became a certified menopause nutrition coach because I wasn't going to allow this to be my story either. And I'm glad I did, because I discovered that women have the power to thrive during this period of time. I was so scared, thinking the odds were against me because I already have autoimmunity - Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which is the primary cause of hypothyroidism. I was scared I was going to get the double whammy with a bum thyroid and menopause on top of that.
I'm Angie, a mom, a CrossFitter, an L2 CrossFit trainer, and I run Cream City CrossFit, a CrossFit affiliate in Milwaukee, WI. Many CrossFit affiliates offer nutrition programs/coaching, but many are not run by certified nutrition coaches. Research shows that during perimenopause, 70% of women experience noticeable weight gain—particularly around the midsection—due to hormonal changes that affect metabolism and how our bodies store fat.
